Prof. Tatsuo Kitajima

Prof.Kitajima.T
Dr Tatsuo Kitajima is a Professor of the department of Electronic Systems Engineering in the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), UTM International Campus. He has received the B.E., the M.E., and the D.E. degrees in electrical engineering from Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan, in 1968, 1970, and 1973, respectively.
He joined the department of Information Engineering in Technical Junior College of Yamagata University, Yonezawa, Japan, as a senior lecturer and an associate professor in 1973 and 1978, respectively.
From 1981 to 1982, he visited the Instiitut für Systemdynamik und Regelungstechnik (Director: Prof. Dr.-Ing. E.D.Gilles) of Universiät Stuttgart, Stuttgart, West Germany (currently Germany), as a Visiting Researcher. Since 1983, he was an associate professor of the departments of Information Engineering, Electrical Information Engineering, and Bio-System Engineering in Faculty of Engineering of Yamagata University, Yonezawa, Japan.

In 2003, he promoted to a full professor of the department of Bio-System Engineering in Faculty of Engineering of Yamagata University and retired from Yamagata University on March 2011. Since May 2011, he holds a current post in MJIIT. His research interests have been computational algorithms for the optimal control problem of distributed parameter system and the computational neuroscience research to clarify the mechanism of information processing in the brain. His current research activities are mainly focused on modelling and simulation for phenomena observed in the brain, such as synaptic plasticity and subthreshold resonance phenomena, which are now thought to be one physiological fundamental process for learning and memory. The catch copy of his research is "Approach to mystery of the brain from an engineering point of view".
